Due to a high number of applicants, the following procedure regarding long-term visa applications, i.e. stays exceeding 3 months in Germany such as cases of family reunion, students and au-pair visa, applies:
Visa applications can only be submitted on appointment. Appointments for visa applications are only available by e-mail at
family-student@lago.diplo.de
When applying for an appointment, please state clearly the first name, surname and passport number of the applicant. Applications for appointments which do not contain the a.m. data will not be answered!
Please also note that due to the above-mentioned high volume of applicants, the waiting period for appointments for long-term visa is at present up to 4 weeks.
Long-term visa applicants who show up later than 9.00 a.m. on the date of interview or applicants who are not in possession of all relevant documents and/or duly filled-in visa forms (see links below) will be given a new date for an interview.
Persons presenting invitation letters or appointments in already pending visa cases must show up before 10.00 a.m.
Further changes might be announced on short-term notice. The Embassy regrets that these strict procedures had to be introduced but they were necessary due to the high volume of applicants. Please not that no exceptions will be made.
We appologize for any inconvenience that may be caused and kindly request your co-operation. Thank you!
