Greetings all.  please am new here and I was told to come seek help here. I am planning to come to Germany for my masters but the issue I have is the block account,the amount is damn much. 10326€. I read that if I have a relative who lives in Germany he can write a letter to aliens registration that he will take care of me, that the letter will cover the block account.  Is this information real? what's going to be my chances of been granted if he have been on jail in the past?

this is real. But it isn't only "a letter", it is a formal obligation and is called "Verpflichtungserklärung (commitment declaration)" according to §§ 66-68 AufenthG.

It depends. If he was in jail because of e.g. smuggeling people, it wouldn't be helpfull.
Otherwise it is necessary among other things, that he has enough long-lasting income, to fulfill this commitment declaration.

Yes, generally it will.
He just has to verify the procedure with the ABH in Berlin, how to do this for the responsible ABH in Göttingen.
They may have small differences, e.g. necessary income or sth. else.
